Octavius Mitchell fatally shot while driving in West Pullman

About 2:15 p.m., he was stopped in the middle of the street in the 11500 block of South LaSalle Street, had a brief conversation with a man who approached his vehicle and fired shots.

A 38-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday while he was driving in West Pullman on the Far South Side.



About 2:15 p.m., he stopped in the middle of the street in the 11500 block of South LaSalle Street, had a brief conversation with a man who approached his vehicle, and the man fired shots, Chicago police said. He was struck in the neck and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was identified as Octavius Mitchell, of West Englewood, by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
