Chauvin to be sentenced in 8 weeks, faces up to 40 years Chauvin sentencing hearing will be in eight weeks. The maximum sentence for second-degree murder is 40 years in prison, but Minnesota sentencing guidelines suggest he's more likely to receive up to 15 years. However, the state is permitted to ask for the full 40 years. "I expect the prosecution to ask for more time" than the 15 years, ABC News Legal Analyst Dan Abrams said.

Chauvin bail revoked, taken into custody Upon being found guilty on all charges, prosecutors asked that Chauvin's bail be revoked, which was granted by the judge. The former officer was escorted from the courtroom when proceedings concluded.
